Simpsonville Kentucky annexes interchange on I-64

The annexation of approximately 42 acres located at the I-64 expressway interchange in Simpsonville Kentucky, was approved unanimously by the Simpsonville commission.
Approximately 40 persons showed up for the vote - again airing concerns about Redline Properties whom owns approximately 7 of the 42 acres - and their desire to NOT see them place heavy equipment or anything of the like on the property.
Redline Properties filed a request for zoning, and was denied previously in their requests with the Triple S Planning and Zoning Commission. Many residents in Simpsonville KY feel that potentially, that if Simpsonville annexed this property, that Redline would then be able to bypass or overturn the earlier ruling of the commission - because they would now be entirely under the Simpsonville jurisdiction.
The Simpsonville commission feels that they can better control what development happens, and has stated that with them controlling what development goes in at this location, that it can better serve the Simpsonville Kentucky community.
Many residents however remain skeptical. Time will tell. Hopefully, the commission will live up to its promise to do what is right for the LONG TERM growth of the Simpsonville KY community, and doesn’t fall prey to short term gains that would inhibit growth and the em betterment of the area.
